Oxted Family Garden

This garden in Oxted, Surrey, belongs to a Victorian property near the town's vibrant centre. The garden felt tired and disconnected from the house, with access issues creating a "closed off" feel, and old decking that had become worn and slippery underfoot.

The redesign opens up the space across its multiple levels, creating safe, easy routes that connect the house to the garden and link each area together. The result is a garden built around family life - spaces for entertaining and eating outdoors, room for children to play, and raised beds for growing vegetables and cut flowers.

The planting scheme brings a vibrant injection of summer colour, with bold oranges, pinks and purples combined with plants chosen for year-round seasonal interest. New trees have been introduced to replace those that needed to be removed, restoring structure and height to the garden.

Photographed here whilst works are ongoing, the garden is due to be finished in summer 2026 - I can't wait to share pictures of the finished garden!
