Multi-level Front Garden
This front garden in Sanderstead, South London, arranged over multiple levels, previously had unsafe steps and routes that were limiting the owner's enjoyment of the space and making it difficult to access and maintain the planting.
The redesign addresses these safety issues, reconciling the unsafe routes and adding new steps up the bank to provide easier, safer access throughout. The chalky bank has been replanted with a scheme of shrubs and perennials, chosen to establish well in these conditions. Once established, the planting will knit together into low-maintenance, weed-suppressing cover - transforming a previously unmanageable area into an attractive feature.
